THERMO-TOUGH. We're putting it to the test

THERMO-TOUGH. We're putting it to the test

Stoney Creek's new THERMOTOUGH clothing has landed at the Wild & Moor shop in North Yorkshire. And our first impressions are: it's a good bit of kit!

For years we've bought (and worn-out!) many types of thermal jackets, which have been used for anything from walking the moors and doing the shopping... to working outside and doing winter DIY. It tends to be the jobs that involve the odd rubbing or snagging that finishes them off; as tears form and the thermal insulation finds it's way out.

As a family with a record of using (and possibly, ab-using) thermal jackets, we've decided to put Stoney Creek's THERMOTOUGH products to the test. We all have these new jackets, and so far we're impressed with the fit and quality. The fit is oversized, so we've gone down a size, and they are made longer for additional warmth and protection. The jacket and thermal vest (no arms or hood) are lightweight but tough with the Nylon RipStop outer shell, which also works as an insulating layer alongside the Primaloft Silver down blend. Stoney Creek claims the THERMOTOUGH jacket provides 100% protection from wind, as well as high insulation and water resistance.

So let's see how the THERMOTOUGH jackets fair. So far they seem very good, but the real test will come when the temperature drops, and that's something we're very much looking forward to. We plan to couple the THERMOTOUGH jackets with our favourite Woolpower Merino wool base layers... Watch this space!
